The Australian Body Art Carnivale

The Australian Body Art Carnivale is centred around body art in its many varied forms - from the more readily seen art form of face painting right through to cutting-edge full body painting using airbrush and sponge and brush, as well as special effects.

The theme for this year's body art (including face painting) is "The Natural World" - and artists will be judged on their interpretation of that theme. Judges will also be looking for creative edge, originality, use of colour, and technical expertise. The face painting competition will take place on Saturday 20 September, and the full body art competitions in the three categories of airbrush, sponge and brush, and special effects will take place the next day, Sunday 21 September. A highlight of the weekend will be the final parade and awards presentation commencing at 6.00pm on the Sunday.

Aside from the spectacular full body art and some serious face painting, the Carnivale will also include traditional Aboriginal body painting, pavement art, a wearable art competition and parade, photographic competitions and a visual art exhibition called "Art of the Body" as well as life drawing and sculpting workshops.

The Australian Body Art Carnivale is held in Eumundi, known throughout the world for its Wednesday and Saturday markets, its creative energy and its historic streetscape. Eumundi is located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland close to Noosa Heads.

There's something in it for everyone – from amateurs to professionals and everyone in between.

The Noosa Beach Classic Car Club

The Noosa Beach Classic Car Club has been running this event since 1988. It has become one of the most prestigious ' Classic Car Shows ' of the year in Australia, and is featured in many prominent motoring magazines around the world.

Some of the past 'Marques of the Year' have been Ferrari, Porche, Lamborghini, Maserati, Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Corvette.

In 2009 the 'Marque of the Year' will be BRISTOL. These beautiful cars have been made in England by the Car Division of the Bristol Aeroplane Company since 1947, and are still being produced today.

With clear aircraft influence, the aluminium bodied Bristols are of timeless and distinctive aerodynamic appearance. The Bristol Owners' Club of Australia is enthusiastically attending the event.

On display we hope to have 40 to 50 Bristol cars with models from 1947 to 1975. The Bristol history, as well as many sporting triumphs, encompasses many post war sporting and racing cars using Bristol 6 cylinder engines ( eg Fraser Nash, Cooper ), and participation in rallies from Monte Carlo and the Miglia Miglia in 1947, with the Model 400 to Le Mans in 1953 with the 450, and in 1954 with the desirable 405 drophead saloon.

From 1961, Bristol cars were powered by Chrysler V8 engines, and more recently the Dodge Viper V10 in the Bristol Fighter, to satisfy the demand for the highest performance, to match the premium, handbuilt quality of the cars.

The Noosa Beach Classic Car Show takes place at the Noosa Heads Lions' Park with up to 300 Historic and Classic Cars on display in a beautiful setting on the Noosa River, close to Hastings Street, well known for its Café and Shopping culture.

Owners of Historic and Classic Cars are invited to display on the day and the Exhibitor fee is $15 per car including 2 people. Set up is between 6am and 9am. Spectators entry fee is $5 and children under 14 years are free.

The proceeds go toward the running of the event, local charities and student driver training programmes.

A free shuttle bus runs between Noosa Heads and the Cinema Complex on Sunshine Beach Road at Noosa Junction.

The Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival

The Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival is steeped in rich history and uniqueness not matched anywhere in the world. The festival is brought together with an irresistible mix of sport and entertainment coupled with sun, sea and surf in one of Australia’s most popular destinations. The weeklong festival of swimming, cycling, running, triathlon events for everyone from 7-80+, two golf tournaments (celebrity and corporate), massive sport and lifestyle expo, corporate/VIP facilities and a serious after Party you’ll also need to train for.

Saturday 14th - Sunday 15th November, 2009

Historic Noosa Hill Climb

The Historic Noosa Hill Climb, affectionately known as 'The Hill', had its inaugural run in 1998 and has just recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary. 'The Hill' is a combined event run by the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club and the Historic Racing Car Club (Qld).

Over these 12 years The Hill has developed into a first class event with many well known racing personalities from across Australia as well as local Queensland racing identities all vying to be the fastest on the day.

The Hill is seductively attractive to drivers. Fourteen corners in lightning succession are a few too many for easy recollection – and they all have their tricks. There is a good hot mix surface – thanks to the support of Noosa Council, plus the spice of steep banks on one side, (offering an easy route to inversion) and of awesome drop-offs on the other.

With Split Second Timing and automated traffic light starting systems, cars get away at intervals of less than 30 seconds and gives The Hill climb participants the potential to achieve 6 runs per day. There are usually 3 cars climbing The Hill simultaneously – and the commentator can pass on the information to the public as it happens.

The Hill also provides excellent viewing for spectators too – unlike many sprint venues, and the ambience of the pits is irresistible. Food and coffee vendors are available at a number of sites.

The Hill has won the respect of the traditional landowners and of the Noosa Parks & Wild Life Services and Environmental Protection Agency, who recognising the care that our spectators show for the living forest, continue to allow public access to the spectator areas via the walking track.

SPECTATORS:
Gates open from 8am – 4pm on each day

ADMISSION:
Weekend Pass (2days) $20 (children under 14 free if accompanied by an adult)
Day Pass $15 (children under 14 free if accompanied by an adult)

Free shuttle bus will operate between Gyndier Drive and Tewantin Sports Ground on each day.
